Exciting news from the Rising Tide Conservation supported Tropical Aquaculture Lab at UF/IFAS!
From the researchers:
“Closing the life cycle of any marine ornamental species is cause for celebration, but when it’s the Pacific blue tang, Paracanthurus hepatus, it’s even more exciting! First generation (F1) Pacific blue tangs, successfully cultured for the first time at the University of Florida Tropical Aquaculture Lab in 2016, have recently begun spawning.
Spawn quantity and fertilization success have continued to improve over the past few months. UF/IFAS TAL will continue with larviculture research in hopes of bringing this species one step closer to closer to commercial production.”
Congratulations on this monumental success!
