UPDATE ON YELLOW TANG PROGRESS AT OCEANIC INSTITUTE

Update on Yellow Tang Progress at Oceanic Institute

The team at Oceanic Institute has been hard at work replicating their success with Yellow Tang.  A second run has produced 300 juveniles. The team used the same methods as with the first success to ensure that the results are comparable.  The eggs for this run came from a second broodstock group – so the success isn’t due to just one good pair. Ongoing trials now show that survival to settlement can be achieved in much smaller (200L) tanks. This means that while larvae need lots of food, the success in large tanks may not be a factor critical to the process.
